Friday, May 30 2024 – The Episcopal Church of South Sudan Environmental Network conducted the Climate Change campaign at Juba Diocesan Model Secondary School under the theme “Harnessing the Potential of Kids/Youth on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaption to Protect the World We Live in.”The Pilot project which is being implemented by volunteers is intended to cover at least four schools (2 primary and 2 secondary) within JUBA County. The purpose of the campaign is to awaken conscience and create curiosity and impression among young people to enhance their potential in the war against climate change.Today, (May 30) the Campaign team is glad to have engaged with students of Juba Diocesan Model Secondary School, the enthusiasm from each one of them attests to the willingness of young people to join the fight against the Climate Crisis.The ECSS Environmental Network with support from Environmental organizations, Partners, well-wishers, line ministries, and the Church; hopes to launch a nationwide Climate Change campaign for young people to cover more than 100 schools in the 10 states and 3 administrative areas, and impact over 3000 students (young people) from both primary and secondary schools.We believe that investing in young people is the most appropriate action towards mitigating the Climate Crisis in South Sudan.The Episcopal Church of South Sudan Anglican CommunionGreen Anglicans Movement, AfricaTearfund South SudanUN Environment ProgrammeDube Sam Kenyi
