Afforestation

Afforestation and reforestation contribute to preserving biodiversity hotspots, avoiding soil degradation, and protecting other natural resources like water. As such the network works with communities to address the challenges associated with deforestation. We work with communities by setting up tree nurseries and giving the communities the responsibility for mass tree planting in their respective homesteads, churches, community centers, schools, and office compounds.
The main focus of this objective is the immediate replanting of our local trees that are resilient to our weather in order to combat the depletion of the forests, we strive to preserve the existing forests as well as create artificial forests by planting fruit trees, soft and hardwood; while incorporating fast-growing trees as alternative for timber, firewood, and charcoal.
The network prioritizes training and capacity building on tree nursery bed establishment, tree planting and growing, and climate change adaptation.
We encourage women to participate in our Briquettes production which is an alternative energy to charcoal and firewood, this will minimize them being exposed to smoke while cooking.
In an effort to educate the young generation to understand the impacts of climate change, and global warming, the network establishes environmental clubs in schools to embark on school tree plantings as well as encourage the dissemination of environmental conservation information to all school-going children to help them understand the threats coming with climate change.
